LFA would like to welcome South Bend native Philip Viner to our CAD (Computer-Aided Design) Department. Viner will work creating drawings and plans for LFA engineers as well as on INDOT and other client documents.
A U.S. Army Veteran, Viner has his Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Arizona. He has worked as a main battle tank mechanic, a satellite communications professional, an information technology (IT) technician and more. His interest in architecture led him to learn drafting. He is now enrolled in the CAD program at Ivy Tech Community College and expects certification May 2024.
LFA reached out to Ivy Tech looking for strong students. Viner was impressed with the company, he said, and especially grateful for its ability to work around his class schedule as he finishes his CAD program.
“That’s huge, I can finish the certification and gain professional experience,” he said.
Viner enlisted in the Army after 9/11 and has served two terms, with two separate MOS (Military Occupational Specialties). In his spare time he has built a Neapolitan pizza oven in his back yard and has now moved on to woodworking. He recently finished building a crib for his baby, due July 2023. Viner’s wife, Katie, has two masters degrees and a PhD in Italian, which she teaches as a professor at Notre Dame.
Welcome to the team, Philip!
