LFA would like to welcome Cory Enfield to the Transportation Department. Cory graduated magna cum laude this spring from Olivet Nazarene University in Kankakee, Illinois, with a Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering concentrating in civil and architectural engineering. Enfield grew up in Kankakee and moved to South Bend a year ago to be closer to family.
He said as he looked for jobs, he considered larger firms in Indianapolis and Cincinnati but, as a smaller firm LFA “just seemed more interested in my personal development than a larger firm.”
A member of the Sugar Grove Church in Elkhart, Enfield said contributing to society around him is very important to who he is. “I want to help the community that I’m living in. Being an engineer and working in a smaller firm seems a better way to improve my community”
Cory played for his college soccer team and worked on a soon-to-be-published research project between Olivet and Kansas University about phase change materials in wall construction. Ultimately, he chose engineering over architecture because he said infrastructure, city planning and roadways will have a bigger impact on community.
“There’s always people closer to you that need help more than you think,” he said.
Cory and Blitz the cat are looking for their own place to live. For fun he enjoys hiking, kayaking and fishing and goes to the gym nearly every day.
Welcome to the team, Cory!
