Construction Group Hires Project Supervisor

Werner Prepared to Work with Clients

Abigail Werner joins LFA’s Construction Inspection Department as a Project Supervisor. She will perform full time site-observation for projects and inspect contractor’s work for conformance with project specifications. Her responsibilities also include coordinating construction activities with residents, utility companies, and other public agencies (INDOT, cities, counties), facilitating preconstruction and progress meetings, and resolving differences between designers and contractors.

Prior to coming to LFA, Werner was a Field Engineer for a larger general contractor in Tennessee, which gave her experience from the general contractor point of view on projects. She has also worked for St. Joseph Energy Center in their engineering department throughout college where she previously established a working relationship with LFA staff.

“Networking is an important part of your career. I’m grateful that my previous working relationship and experience with LFA has opened the door for this opportunity,” she said. “LFA is special in the sense that they care about your professional and personal development. The role that I am filling can be found in many places, but it’s the people and passion at LFA is very attractive to a young professional.”

As a New Carlisle native, Werner said, “What I’m doing here will benefit the towns that I love dearly and mean a lot to me,” noting a smaller firm means she can have a bigger impact on local communities.

Werner graduated from Purdue University-West Lafayette with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering. She also commissioned through Purdue’s AFROTC and is a Civil Engineering Officer in the USAF Reserves as a first lieutenant.

While she does have family and friends nearby, her main reason for moving from Tennessee to Indiana was for this career opportunity.

“LFA is very supportive of my long-term goal to earn my Professional Engineering license and is giving me the ability to be mentored by PEs here. That was a huge attraction. LFA has a wide breath of respectable and knowledgeable Professional Engineers who have been great mentors already,” she stated.

In her free time, Werner is very active as a certified yoga instructor and powerlifter. She enjoys all things outdoors including kayaking, backpack camping, and pickleball. She also loves to crochet and read.

She makes her home in Mishawaka and plans to adopt Gus, a golden retriever, in March.

Very happy you joined us, Abigail!
