Second day on the job, new survey tech Rich Garrett works at the Ironworks Phase III Ice Rink Construction project in Mishawaka

Richard Garrett joins the LFA survey department coming from Pure Green Farms, a hydroponic lettuce farm in South Bend. There he managed the seed-sewing machinery. A graduate of South Bend’s James Whitcomb Riley High School’s engineering magnet program, Garrett said he was always looking for a way into this industry and the survey department is a perfect introduction

“This job offers me the balance of being able to work outside and work with my hands, use all the technology involved and still have variance in my responsibilities,” he said, adding he is really looking forward to learning the art of survey.

“It’s satisfying when you map things out and it’s all precise. I’ve always been drawn top cartography,” he said.

Garrett lives in South Bend with his wife, Kelly, and two cats, Millie and Suzy. He plays bass in a local band and enjoys attending live music events.

Welcome to the team, Rich!
