This interchange modification and added travel lanes assignment was received from an on-call design services contract with INDOT Central Office.This project consisted of added median travel lanes, ramp widening, and other modifications to the I-69/I-465interchange and the I-69/82nd Street interchange. The project included approximately 12 lane miles of improvements and a railroad bridge widening converting southbound I-69 to northbound I-465 into a multilane entrance ramp. These improvements and added travel lanes were to address chronic congestion problems and delay as part of a larger comprehensive solution. The project modifications were developed without any additional right-of-way and were consistent with the previously approved environmental documentation.
