Chesterton WWTP Expansion Phase II

The Town of Chesterton Indiana

Cost: $8,700,000

More About This Project

Category: Construction Inspection

Lawson-Fisher Associates was contacted by Mark O’Dell, Town Engineer and Acting Utilities Manager for the Town of Chesterton, with the opportunity to provide construction inspection services for the town on their Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion Phase II – the largest project the Town has undertaken in quite some time.

The Town had a number of difficulties with Phase I of their plant expansion and already had the Phase II designer on board for overall construction review, but still needed someone for approximately 30 hours a week on site. The project had a number of challenges including, construction through two extremely severe winters, dewatering – difficulties with getting the excavation dry while at the same time drying up residential wells, significant changes just prior to bidding resulting in unclear expectations, and direct monthly involvement and meetings with the town attorney monitoring progress.
