Lawson-Fisher Associates designed this project and subsequently were asked to provide Professional Engineering Services for Construction Inspection of the Main to Lafayette Connector Project in South Bend. We did road design and construction. The construction schedule was aggressive and contractor worked multiple Saturdays to advance the project. Contractor operations intensified as the contract completion date approached and our construction observation activities paralleled the contractors as the contractor and his subcontractors brought forces to bear to achieve the deadline.

This project included construction of a new road alignment of Main Street and Lafayette Boulevard between Ireland Road and Chippewa Avenue and the associated side streets. LFA included new curb and gutter, sanitary sewers, water mains, retention pond excavation, roadway excavation and fill, pavement, maintenance of traffic, and erosion and sediment control.
