Project Description:

LFA was assigned these thin deck ove1lay bridge rehabilitation projects under our 2018 On-Call Project Development Services agreement. This assignment set was located on the congested 1-80/94 corridor within Lake County between the Illinois state line and the US 41 interchange.
LFA performed extensive queue analysis and coordination work with Illinois Department of Transpo1tation (IDOT) officials for developing viable maintenance of traffic options and ultimately securing an Interstate Highway Congestion Policy (IHCP). This project was let in August 2020 and not awarded due. Based on feedback from the construction community, LFA revisited maintenance of traffic planning and facilitated multiple work sessions with INDOT and IDOT technical staff among others while also developing a second IHCP policy exception request in concert with INDOT Central Office.
The LFA project team was responsible for developing the bridge rehabilitation plans, environmental documentation, utility coordination and providing construction phase services. This project was let in February 2021 with construction complete by Rieth-Riley Construction Co., Inc., in the same year.
