Brian Martin, PE, Joins Water Resources Department
LFA welcomes Brian Martin, PE, to its Indianapolis office, where he will support the firm’s growing Water Resources Department.
A 2009 Purdue University graduate, Martin joined Butler, Fairman and Seufert, Inc., after college and spent the next 15 years as a project engineer and manager working across transportation, water resources, and site design. Over time, he chose to focus his career on water resources — work he says helps him feel more connected to the environment.
Working on water and wastewater projects while integrating new technology/software and ideas into his designs, feels like the right fit, Martin said. “Water resource engineering has a direct impact on the planet, and I take pride in ensuring projects I manage are technically sound and viable for both the engineered and natural environment.”
Much of Martin’s background includes drainage and infrastructure plan reviews in central Indiana, and he saw LFA as a chance to take the next step professionally. “The growth LFA is trying to do in and around Indianapolis is pretty exciting,” he said. “LFA feels close-knit, and they’ve been very accommodating, making it easy for me to integrate.”
Martin has already been supporting regional lift station design, CIPP rehab, sewer and water main projects, as well as CCMG (Community Crossing Matching Grants) work — making for a smooth transition.
He was also drawn to LFA’s mid-size structure and employee ownership model. The firm’s new downtown Indianapolis office was another plus, shortening his commute. “It’s exciting to see how this continues to grow. It’s been a really nice change of pace,” he said.
Martin lives in Indianapolis and enjoys travelling, hiking, kayaking, and is currently training for a half marathon.
