A 2.6 MW Hydroelectric Dam and Powerhouse, built in 1911, located on the St. Joseph River approximately 18 miles northwest of the City of Sturgis, Michigan generates power to the City. LFA designed the 1,500 kW Powerhouse and a 6000-kW dual fuel diesel unit currently in commercial operation. Additional designs included fish rearing ponds, Unit No. 3 discharge ring repair, headgate and spillway repairs, equipment selection (design and bidding of addition to Powerhouse and appurtenances), major electrical transmission and substation improvements and be responsible for the dam dewatering and inspections, FERC relicensing, Emergency Action Plan, functional exercise, annual monumentation and penstock inspection, feasibility study for additional generation, bond assistance and rate consulting.
