Structure Number 10(06)ML & I-90 over Ramp ‘D’
ITR Concession Company LLC (ITRCC)
Lake County, Indiana
Structure Number 10(06)ML and I-90 were originally designed by LFA in 1984 as twin continuous composite steel beam bridges with spans of 52-ft. 6-in., 65-ft. 6-in., 52-ft 6-in. and a clear roadway width of 40-ft. 0-in. LFA had the opportunity to perform a limited site inspection of these bridges due to a significant amount of deterioration occurring near the beam bearings at the west end bents of each bridge. A Durability Report including concrete testing of the bridge deck was performed. The report recommended a bridge deck overlay, it was constructed utilizing phased construction through a high traffic area. In addition, the owner requested the conversion of existing end bent with joints to jointless semi-intergral end bents and new concrete approaches. Maintenance of traffic consideration required consultation (4-phases). LFA performed roadway design, bridge design, maintenance of traffic and utility coordination for this project.
