C.R. 300E (Klockner Road) Improvements
Starke County Commissioners
Starke County, Indiana
LFA was selected to improve the overall traffic operation and safety on the C.R. 300E corridor located within the Knox Industrial Park. These improvements included providing proper intersection geometrics (turning radius, cross slope, stopping sight distances, intersection sight distances, etc.) for a WB-65 (IDV) design vehicle and industrial drives that serve truck movements to and from industrial facilities. This is a local project agency (LPA) project administered by INDOT conforming to the federal laws and regulations to be eligible for federal-aid participation. As part of the eligibility, the project included the reclassification of C.R. 300E from a Rural Minor Collector to a Rural Major Collector. This reconstruction project consists of two - 12-ft. travel lanes with a barrier curb and gutter. The collection and discharge of the storm sewer into a legal drain involved the approval from multiple governmental agencies. The enlarged foot print required utility and railroad coordination and the acquisition of additional right-of-way. The right-of-way acquisition dealt with the management of 26 residential and industrial parcels and effectively coordinating with all disciplines of the right-of-way acquisition process.
